Costis Stambolis

He is a founding partner (2003) of the Institute for Energy of SE Europe (IENE) while he currently serves as its Executive Director and Deputy Chairman. He is also the founder and managing editor of Energia.gr, Greece’s foremost energy portal in operation since 2001.

Having graduated from Athens College (1968) Costis studied Physics, Architecture, Strategy and Innovation in the U.K. He holds a Graduate Diploma in Architecture and Energy Studies (AA Dip. Grad) from the Architectural Association and a professional practice license as Architect-Engineer from the Technical Chamber of Greece. He also holds a Master’s degree from the University of Oxford (Said Business School) on Strategy and Innovation.

Over the last 40 years Costis has carried out worldwide  a wide range of projects in the energy field as an independent energy consultant focusing on solar building technology, regional planning, natural gas and energy market analysis.

He has acted as advisor  and senior consultant on energy policy issues to governments at international organizations, including the EU, the World Bank, ITDG, UNICEF, UNESCO, Shell Trading, TAP and the IEA.  Costis has lectured widely on energy issues in Europe, Asia and USA and has participated in several conferences and seminars as invited speaker on energy issues. He has published extensively in the technical press and in learned journals and he has authored and co-authored several publications on Solar Energy, Renewable Energy Sources, Oil & Gas and Energy Policy.
