Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic
Alexis Tsipras was born in 1974. He entered into a civil partnership with Betty Baziana, and together, they have two sons. He studied Civil Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens, from which he later received a graduate degree in Urban and Regional Planning.
He was Secretary of the youth wing of the “Coalition of the Left — Movements and Ecology”, from 1999 to 2003. In 2006, he was elected Councilman of Athens. In 2008, he was elected party President during the 5th Congress of the “Coalition of the Left”, and then re-elected during the 6th Congress in June 2010. He has served as President of SYRIZA from the founding party congress in July 2013.
Since December 2012, he has served as Vice President of the “European Left” party (EL). In December 2013, he was nominated EL’s candidate for President of the European Commission.
He was elected MP and head of the Parliamentary Group of SYRIZA during the national elections of 2009. He was re-elected MP during the national elections in May and July 2012, and has since served as Leader of the Opposition.
On January 26, 2015, he was sworn in as Prime Minister of Greece. (invited)

He studied Economics at the University of Athens and completed his postgraduate studies at the University of Newcastle. Since 1988, he is Professor of Political Economy at the University of Crete.
In the past, he has cooperated with the Harvard University’s European Studies Center and the Queens College’s Modern Greek Studies Center, City University in New York. He is a SYRIZA deputy since 2012 and Vice Rector of the University of Crete. He is married and has two children.

Mr. Grigorescu was Romania’s Minister of Energy during 2016, and previously advised the Minister of Energy in 2014.
Former member of the board of Electrica, Romania’s largest electricity distribution company, he also has a background in diplomacy and international relations, having served at the Permanent Representation of Romania at the EU (2007-2011) as an expert on the EU’s trade policy.
He took part in Romania’s accession negotiations to the EU during his time at the Ministry of Economy and Commerce (2004-2007). Mr. Grigorescu published various articles on public policy and international relations and has co-authored several works on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership.

Dr. Stamatakis is the director of PPC’s S.A., Testing, Research & Standards Center (TRSC), since 2013. His vision for TRSC is to extend its activities to become a creativity and innovation center.
